Wide Bay Water Corporation is a local government-owned corporate entity that provides water and wastewater services in the Fraser Coast region.
The corporation is governed by an independent board of directors which operates under Queensland’s local government legislation. The directors are appointed by the corporation’s sole shareholder, the Fraser Coast Regional Council.
The Fraser Coast region has been in the top ten fastest growing regions in Australia for the last decade. In meeting the water and wastewater needs of a rapidly increasing population, the corporation hasdevised and implemented innovative solutions that maximise water use and minimise environmental
impact. Wide Bay Water Corporation is widely acknowledged as a leader in the field of environmentally sustainable water management.
Council is seeking to appoint a non-executive director to fill a current vacancy on the corporation’s board.
It is essential that the candidate has engineering skills and experience in the water industry context. The successful candidate will also possess strong capabilities in:
+ leadership at the board level
+ strategic thinking and direction setting
+ corporate governance
+ monitoring financial, legal, regulatory and
operational performance
+ working effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Council is seeking individuals who can effectively combine independence of mind with working collaboratively as part of a team in the government entity context. Preferably, the candidate will be based in Queensland although this is not essential.
